Selection: What to Expect

The Ordering Appointment is the most exciting and emotional time of your entire portrait experience.  This is when you’ll view the final set of images from your portrait session for the very first time. During this appointment, you’ll be able to select your favorite images and decide on the final art pieces that we will be creating for you. We’ll begin with a custom slideshow of your images – arguably the best part for our families. Don’t worry if the tears well up, we always have a tissue box within arms reach!  Following the slideshow presentation, you’ll be able to examine each image more closely and refine your selections.

We’ll highlight the different ways you can display your images and digitally demonstrate how your images will look on your very own walls.  This way, you’re able to make your selections confidently and with ease. Finally, we’ll review every detail before submitting your portrait order. We know these are important decisions and we’re happy to offer our professional expertise every step of the way.

about your art

Photographic Prints

Photographic Prints are professionally printed on Kodak Professional Endura Premier Paper with a standard archival value of 100 years in home display, or 200 years in dark storage.  A coating has been added to provide additional protection against UV exposure.  Use a soft cloth to clean gently.  Prints should never touch glazing directly.  It is recommended that a UV coated glass is used for an additional layer of protection. Conservation Archival Mat Board Mounting board is buffered with calcium carbonate for an alkaline reserve and will resist fading, discoloration and embrittlement. Manufactured to museum quality standards.

Fine Art Canvas

Fine Art Canvases are professionally printed on a 400 gsm cotton-polyester blend fabric with a standard archival value of 100 years.  They are coated with a semi-gloss lacquer for additional abrasion protection and to filter out UV light.  Canvas may be displayed without glass.  Use a soft cloth or included wool duster to clean.

Albums

Albums are created with photographic prints that are mounted onto board pages.  A spray coating is added to provide protection against fingerprints and UV exposure.  Store albums in a temperature-controlled and humidity-controlled environment.  Use a soft cloth to gently remove fingerprints.  Avoid solvents and water which could cause damage.

USB Drive

Please remember that files can easily corrupt and flash drives can stop working without warning.  For this reason, it is recommended that copies of your images are kept on at least two other devices as a back-up.

Your Digital Files

It’s important to remember that digital files are NOT archival.  They will eventually corrupt.  For this reason, we recommend backing up your files to at least 2 different places. But more importantly, we urge you to print any images you would hate to lose, whether they were captured by a professional or by your smart phone.

The artwork you have ordered is archival and will last 100 years or longer.  These are true heirlooms that can be passed onto your children one day.

Along with your professionally printed art products, you’ll receive matching digital files printable up to 8x10 inches.  These files are for personal use only and can be used to create duplicate prints or any other small art products.

Keep in mind that every photo lab is calibrated differently.  For that reason, we cannot ensure accuracy of colors, contrast, finish, or quality produced by any other lab but our own professional lab.  Please run a few test prints to ensure you’re satisfied with the quality and color rendition produced.

Please remember that the images may not be altered in any way.  This includes applying filters or other photo effects, either for personal prints or for sharing on social media.  You may, however, crop the photos to fit a desired print ratio.  We appreciate you respecting the art we have created for you.

Your files can be accessed online 1-2 weeks following your ordering appointment.  You will be able to view, share, and download the files indefinitely. You may also order additional loose prints directly from the gallery, if desired.
